I went back to Fort Miley later in the fall of 2024 and the walls were freshly primed gray. I had just been watching surfers at Fort Point beneath the Golden Gate Bridge, so the Dead Surfer tribute had to happen.
About a week after I painted this piece I returned to Lands End. There were some fresh pieces up alongside the surfer, including the Neckface Babyeater shown here below.
Also shown here is a photo taken when the parks guys pulled up as I was working on this piece. Although it looks and feels like Fort Miley is a legal wall I wasn’t entirely sure, so I hid the paints and took a skate break while the truck driver talked on his phone for a while. I finished the outline when he took off.
